Have you heard the story of the frog in a pot? Well if you have then “thand rakho”1. But for folks who haven’t congratulations! In the past, I have come across the same in a YouTube shorts but hadn’t paid much attention to it. Today I did.
So the story or better to say the observation goes by this - If you put a frog in a pot of boiling water it would jump out immediately. BUT if you put the same frog in a pot of water at a normal room temperature and gradually boil it, the frog would stay in the pot until it gets cooked(source).
Intentionally inadvertently we become the same frog in a pot of gradual boiling water in our lives too. Keeping up with bad and unsupportive relationships, and fitting in is a slow poison destroying individuality and righteousness. The enthusiasm that you had during your childhood, especially when the substitution period was a games period, the same enthusiasm while working on projects that somehow departs after college. Is it because of Jira tickets, deadlines, reports or age? Even if you continue to have enthusiasm are you protecting it?
From The Alchemist
There’s an instance from The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho when Santiago doubts whether he must embark on the journey to find treasure after he found his love Fathima and earned enough wealth and a reputable position in the kingdom. I love the reply of the alchemist which as I could recall goes like -
Destiny2 would knock a few times, but it will stop if you don’t listen to it. You’ll become bitter. Fathima would think it is because of her. When your inner voice stops responding you will be terminated from your position in the tribal kingdom.
